U.S. Forest Service officials say fire danger is growing in the Sierra. They´re authorizing new restrictions in the Lassen and Modoc National Forests starting August 2.
The new rules allow fires only in campfire rings or stoves. Also, smoking will only be allowed inside a closed vehicle.
Similar restrictions are already in effect in the Stanislaus National Forest.
