About 960 firefighters are battling a wildfire near Modesto in Del Puerto Canyon. The 5,170-acre blaze was about 50 percent contained last night.
Some homes have been threatened. No injuries have been reported.
Firefighters have steep terrain, prevailing winds, and triple digit temperatures to deal with again today.
