Highway Bridge Collapse In Sonora

Tons of steel “I” beams and lumber came crashing down on top of a crane Saturday afternoon when an overpass under construction in Sonora collapse.

Tuolumne County Fire Department spokeswoman Deb Fish says no body was hurt when the structure came down around noon Saturday at the Sanguinetti Loop and Mono Way intersection.

Fish says that the roadway was under construction and was not being used by vehicles. It is part of the new Caltrans Sonora Bypass construction project. It´s not immediately known what caused that highway bridge to fall.

Traffic in the area was not affected by the collapse.
