Wildfire Battle Subject Of Calendar

One of the most costly and long-lasting fires in the West may have an enduring effect on a small volunteer fire department in the tiny town of Agness.

The fire department in southwestern Oregon has created a 2003 calendar titled, “The Biscuit Fire and the Battle to Save Agness.” They hope to raise money with the calendar to benefit the struggling non-profit fire department.

Calendar pictures showcase plumes of smoke pouring from the fire, which burned nearly $500,000 acres last year.

The Agness fire department was kept busy for six weeks fighting the blaze. They were joined by firefighters from Australia, where some people have ordered the calendar.
