NASA Asks Forest Service To Watch For Shuttle Debris

NASA is asking US Forest Service rangers to be on the lookout for space shuttle debris in five remote California counties where the search may be limited by isolation and snow accumulation. NASA is asking rangers in Amador, Calaveras, Tuolumne Mono and Alpine counties to watch for shuttle remnants. No debris sightings in California have been linked to the break-up of Columbia so far.

Photographs and data suggest the shuttle started breaking up over the western United States.
