Military Families Deal With War

With the war in Iraq under way, military families have heightened anxiety.

Frank Wright of Baltimore has a son, Anthony, who´s a specialist in hand-to-hand combat with the 101st Airborne. Wright knows Anthony could face great danger on the front lines, but says his worries are overshadowed by confidence in his son´s training. Lisa Smith of Jacksonville, North Carolina, has two young kids, a third on the way, and a husband deployed with the Marines in the Gulf. She says “in the quiet of the night, you come down and you deal with the feelings.” In Cincinnati, a white banner with three blue stars hangs in the window of the Staun home. They have a military son and daughter in the Gulf, and another daughter who expects to go soon. They hung the banner to remind people to pray.
