SF Quake Anniversary Today

Hundreds of people turned out early this morning to observe the 97th anniversary of the 1906 earthquake. The group included several survivors of the quake. At 5:13 a.m., sirens roared in downtown San Francisco, marking the moment when the city shook and then burned.

One 102-year-old woman was on hand for the commemoration. She was just five years old when the earthquake hit. She told reporters that she remembered glass and china breaking throughout her house.
