Modesto Police say they were forced to defend themselves when a man pulled a gun from his waistband and raised it at officers.
Modesto Police say they shot and killed 22-year-old Aguilar Eustolio at Empire and Oregon avenues yesterday. The Modesto man was pronounced dead at a local hospital.
A car stopped at the intersection at the time of the shooting was hit by several stray bullets, but the driver was not hurt.
Both officers have been placed on administrative leave as part of Modesto Police department policy. Their names are not being released at this time.
