Governor Honors Peace Officers

Governor Davis honored nine California peace officers killed in the line of duty last year during an annual ceremony at the Capitol. Davis told a crowd of more than a 1,000 police officers and their families that he supports legislation that would provide death benefits to stepchildren of public safety workers who die on the job or from work related injuries or illness.

The nine honored officers will have their names included on a glass encased book attached to a wall outside the governor´s office. Attorney General Bill Lockyer also attended the annual California Peace Officer´s Memorial Ceremony.
