Search and rescue teams and a California Highway Patrol helicopter were called to the Big Meadows area near Highway 4 to find two Bay Area residents overdue in returning home from a trip in the region.
A ground search by Calaveras and Alpine county search and rescue personnel continued through the night. The CHP helicopter spotted the pair around 6 yesterday morning. They were air-flighted out of the area to the Big Meadows Campground in good condition.
