Special Fire Assessment Election Set for Tuesday

Voters in Murphys will decide if they want to pay a new property assessment to boost funding for fire protection. A special election is being held tomorrow.

Fire protection district officials have stressed the need for more paid firefighters, because there are many times when volunteer firefighters are working out of the area.

If “Measure A” is passed, officials estimate it will generate about 115 thousand dollars each year. It would do that by collecting an annual fee between $25 and $75 per lot.
