The FBI has launched an investigation into possible civil rights violations by two Manteca police officers.
The investigation comes after a videotape surfaced Thursday that showed an officer allegedly threatening a Ripon man with a gun.
On November seventh, officers burst into James Walton´s home and ordered him to put his hands on his head. He complied. Walton had installed a video camera in his one room dwelling. The camera recorded the entire scene. In the video, an officer identified by the San Joaquin County Public Defender´s Office can be seen pushing Walton onto his bed. A second officer, identified as Sam Gallego, threatens Walton with a gun, saying “We can kill you right here.”
Harris and Gallego are on paid administrative leave.
