New Fees For Recycling TV, Computers

Starting in November, Californians will be paying an extra $6 – to $10 each time they buy a television or computer — money that will go to bury or recycle the devices years later. The new e-waste system is part of a trend that started with prepaying to dispose of tires, bottles, cans and motor oil. Similar efforts have been tried for fluorescent light bulbs, disposable diapers, cups and plastic bags.
