Investigators testified today at Scott Peterson´s double-murder trial about a tip they chased down in the weeks after his wife, Laci Peterson, vanished.
The tip was that the pregnant schoolteacher was being held in a rural area some 30 miles from her hometown.
The prosecution witnesses were intended to help bolster the idea that police exhausted all leads in their investigation of Laci´s disappearance.
Defense attorneys have accused authorities of focusing too quickly on Scott Peterson as a potential suspect and ignoring pertinent tips.
The bodies of Laci Peterson and her fetus were later found washed ashore in the San Francisco Bay.
