Calaveras Board Discusses Dispensaries, Buggy

The Calaveras County Board of Supervisors today will look at the issue of cannabis clubs and Buggy Bill in Murphys.

The board will consider extending a ban on medical marijuana dispensaries for 60 additional days.

The purpose is give the public a chance to review a draft of the proposed medical marijuana ordinance.

If the 60-day-waiting period is approved today, the ordinance draft would go to the Calaveras County Planning Commission next week.

The board is also planning to consider whether to move a longtime horse-and-buggy operation.

Welder Bill Mathis has offered carriage rides around Murphys since the 1980s, but some folks are complaining about the related flies and odor.

Supervisors delayed a vote on the issue last week to give Mathis more time to talk to his attorney.
