Rain Slows Jones Tract Cleanup

Rainy weather has also slowed the pumping and cleanup efforts in the Sacramento Delta at the Jones Tract.

That´s the island that was flooded last June when a levee gave way.

They now hope to complete pumping operations by Christmas.

Growers are also working to restore irrigation ditches and are also hampered by rain.

Some farmers had still hoped to plant winter wheat this year, but it´s unlikely the soil will be dry enough in time.

Growers say they should be able to plant this spring.
