Floodwaters turned out to be deeper than expected, so the California Department of Water Resources says it will have to continue pumping the water off of Jones Tract into December.
The island in the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta flooded in June, ruining crops and flooding farmland.
Farmers will have to wait until spring to plant new crops.
Upper Jones Tract is about dry, however, officials say the water of Lower Jones Tract is three to five feet deeper than expected.
