Farmers Say Repairs Could Take Years

Farmers on Jones Tract say it could take years to recover from the levee break, which flooded the tract last June.

The economic impact goes beyond the farmers, who are struggling to recover from the crop loss as well as the infrastructure losses. The asparagus planted on the tract is gone, as are the seasonal jobs of 160 workers. While some farmers may be able to plant a corn crop in spring, they first must repair irrigation and drainage system damage.
