Great Valley Center Faces Major Cutbacks

One of the San Joaquin Valley´s largest nonprofit organizations, the Great Valley Center, faces major cutbacks because of fund-raising problems.

The center is a nonprofit, nonpartisan group that supports economic and social programs in the valley. They´ve had their budget cut in half next year to 3 million

dollars. Officials blame the cuts on diminished state and federal support and more competition for private foundation money. The center will first curtail support for other civic groups and may also have to cut some of their other programs.
