Two New Appointments Announced At College

Two new spring semester appointments were recently announced at Columbia College. Coni Chavez was named administrative assistant/president´s office and Heidi Meyer was appointed as a mathematics professor.

Chavez has been the college´s outreach recruiter and program specialist for student outreach and development since 2001. As such, she worked closely with local high schools in providing information on the college and was coordinator of the ASCC (Associated Students of Columbia College).

Chavez has over ten years of administrative experience with high-level business executives. She was an executive assistant at Credit Suisse First Boston in Palo Alto; community relations program coordinator at Tuolumne General Hospital; branch office administrator at Edward Jones Investments in Sonora; and held various legal, executive, administrative and engineering assistant posts at RSA Data Security in San Mateo.

Heidi Meyer has taught mathematics for more than 17 years, most recently as an adjunct professor at Modesto Junior College, a position that she has held since 1993.

Meyer has also served as professional development instructor at CSU Stanislaus; mathematics consultant/algebra support instructor at Hickman Charter School; mathematics instructor at Modesto Christian High School; and junior high math and science teacher at Battle Creek Christian School in Michigan.

She holds a bachelor´s degree in mathematics from Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan; a secondary teaching certification from Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo; and graduate studies at CSU Stanislaus.
