Afternoon Brush Fire Contained Near West Point

The warm weather has meant a period of extra activity for fire crews in the Motherlode. Firefighters responded to a grass fire at the Higdon/Spink Cutoff at Spink Road near West Point.

It happened just after 2 p.m. Wednesday. The fire burned about an acre and officials say it took just under a half an hour to contain the blaze.
