Injured Motorcyclist Rescued In Remote Area

Tuolumne County emergency crews had some difficulty getting to an injured off-road motorcycle rider Saturday afternoon southeast of Tuolumne City.

California Department of Forestry fire spokesman said the rider, whose name was not available as off late Saturday afternoon, had been riding in the remote Paper Cabin Ridge area off Buchanan Mine Road and had suffered a fractured leg in an accident.

Firefighters, sheriff deputies, paramedics and a fire crew from Baseline Fire Camp tried to rescue the victim in the area of the Tuolumne River canyon region. An Air Med helicopter was called in and was the crew was able to land the aircraft about 500 yards from the victim. He was taken by helicopter to Sonora Regional Medical Center for treatment. The cycle riderĀ“s condition was not available.
