TOT Hike Goes Before Voters

Tourists visiting the Mother Lode may soon pay more for a stay in a motel room.

A tax hike – from 8 percent to 9 percent applying to houseboats, campsites, RV parks, and ordinary rooms in hotels and inns – will be going before the voters this November.

Yesterday, Tuolumne County Supervisors voted 4-to-1 to put the proposal — by the Visitor´s Bureau and the County Lodging Association — on the November 2nd ballot.
