Officials from CalTrans and the family of Sheriff´s Deputy Dave Grant are asking residents to please NOT park and cross Highway 49 to place memorials at the crash site.
One accident has almost occurred at the scene already, due to folks stopping by the side of the road and taking pictures.
The family says they deeply appreciate the flowers and notes, but they´re also very concerned for the safety of motorists and pedestrians.
Donations should be made to any Central California Bank and Central Sierra Bank Branches, in care of the David P. Grant Scholarship Fund.
Cards for the family may be mailed to the Tuolumne County Sheriff´s Department.
