Conservancy Establishes Criteria For Home Location

Nevada City, CA — A newly formed conservation effort billed as the largest in the state has declared what it will need in a new home location.

The year-old Sierra Nevada Conservancy has been seeking a location to settle into since the board established a site selection process December 2nd.

The conservancy says the site must be located in one of 12 specified counties, including Tuolumne, Calaveras or Amador Counties. It must be within a two-hour drive from Sacramento and have access to major transportation corridors such as I-5 and Highways 4 and 99.

The location should also have high-speed internet access, meeting facilities and be close to schools, affordable housing and transportation. Preference will also be given to those facilities that are Energy Star compliant.

The conservancy covers 25 million acres from the Oregon border to just north of Bakersfield.

Among its many purposes are to enhance conservation efforts, while assisting in the region´s economic growth.
