Deadline For Holiday Mailing Draws Near

Sonora, CA — Postal officials are warning that the deadline to mail those Christmas packages and letters is drawing near.

Jamestown Postmaster Lori Meza says those items should be mailed out by next Monday in order for them to arrive at their destination on time.

She expects Monday to be the busiest mailing day of the holiday season so it would be best to get mailed items in sooner if possible.

Meza says those mailing out items on the 20th or 21st should be safe with priority mail, and then after that express mail will be necessary.

Meza adds that packages being sent to military personnel should be sent as soon as possible, preferably within the next two days. She says cards for the military should be mailed before the end of this week.

Meza says the best time to avoid crowds at the post office is to go in the early morning or mid-afternoon and avoid Monday and the lunch hour on weekdays.
