Discrimination Suit Moves Forward

San Andreas, CA — Defendants have been added and a new court date has been set for a sexual discrimination lawsuit brought against the Calaveras County Office of Education.

The case, filed by former employees Jackie Hamilton and Cathy Stone-Carlson, was in court Monday.

Recently added as defendants were the Calaveras Unified School District along with Superintendent Jim Frost and the Bret Harte Unified School District and its superintendent Joseph Wilimek.

Hamilton and Stone-Carlson allege that some of their male colleagues in lesser positions were making more money than them. Court documents say the employer was asked to remedy the situation, after which, the women were denied extra pay and were harassed.

To allow the newly added defendants´ attorneys time to prepare, a further case management conference and trial setting has been arranged for 1 p.m. April 17.
