Forecasters Issue Winter Storm Watch For Southern Sierras

Sacramento, CA — Mountain travelers are being warned that a winter storm watch remains in effect through tomorrow evening for the southern Sierra Nevada mountains.

The National Weather Service says heavy snow and gusty winds are possible above the 7500 foot level.

Total accumulations of a foot or more are possible, with lesser amounts as low as 6500 feet. Gusty winds are expected to cause blowing and drifting slow.

A winter storm watch means there is a likelihood of significant snow accumulations that may effect travel.

Travelers are advised to carry chains, water, food and blankets, and to monitor the latest weather reports before traveling.
