Copperopolis, CA — The race for Calaveras County´s District 5 Supervisor is nearly seven months away but that´s not stopping candidates from gearing up for what appears to be a well fought battle.
Incumbent Supervisor Victoria Erickson of Rancho Calaveras will defend her seat against Russ Thomas of Copperopolis during the primary election June 6.
District 5 covers Copperopolis, Rancho Calaveras and Jenny Lind.
Thomas, who announced his intention to run earlier this year, plans to kick off his campaign with a fund-raising dinner next week.
Also up for re-election next year is District 3 Supervisor Merita Callaway. So far, she will run unopposed.
