Angels Officials Warn Of Water Contamination

Angels Camp, CA — Angels Camp residents are being warned their drinking water may be contaminated.

The City of Angels sent out a letter saying the water system tested positive for unsafe levels of five regularly occurring Haloacetic Acids.

The water is periodically tested for contaminants and on October 3 tests showed the acids exceeded maximum contaminant levels.

Officials say there are no immediate health risks. But people who drink such water over a long period of time may experience problems with their liver, kidneys, or central nervous system, and may have an increased risk of getting cancer.

Chlorine leftovers have been removed from the system, which officials say should resolve the problem by December 31. Also, there is no need to use an alternative water supply.
