Sonora, CA — CDF says an illegal campfire is the cause of a small grassfire over the weekend.
CDF Spokesman Craig Hart says crews responded to the location on Sugar Pine Road near Mi Wuk Village just before midnight Saturday.
Hart says the fire consumed about a quarter acre of ground littler and a sleeping bag in an unauthorized camp sight on CalTrans land.
Damage is estimated at about $50 and no injuries were reported. Four engines responded to the scene.
The person responsible for the blaze was cited for illegal burning.
