San Andreas, CA — The Calaveras County Board of Supervisors has cleared the way to improve road conditions in the Rancho Calaveras Subdivision.
At yesterdays Supervisor´s meeting, the board approved $331,000 for the road work.
The panel had originally approved the project last week but decided to hold off when the lowest bid came in more than $130,000 over budget.
The Public Works Department says only two firms bid on the project, with one of those bids amounting to more than twice the city engineer´s estimate.
The funds were cleared for the project after officials negotiated with the contractor to remove from the project several tasks that could be performed by county road crews.
