Sacramento, CA — The California Highway patrol is warning of a possible scam by phone solicitors claiming to be collecting money for the CHP widows and orphans fund.
CHP officials say it is not a regular practice to ask for monetary donations over the phone.
Residents are being warned not to give any money or vital information to anyone claiming to be collecting money for the widows and orphans fund or the Association of Highway Patrols.
Officials say some of the calls have been traced to Canada.
