Sonora, CA — The Mother Lode Fair drew thousands to Sonora over the past 4 days, some interested in Farris Wheel rides, while others came out for the Livestock auctions.
Saturday morning kids of all ages were washing and prepping their animals for shows and the all-important auction where they hoped their hard work would pay off.
Stan Kellogg was standing in the pigpen when he said the kids look forward to the event every year. The auction includes pigs, lambs, steers, and goats; last year Kellogg says they sold close to $250,000 worth of animals.
Kellogg says there were members of the 4-H the FFA and several other agriculture groups participating in the Auction. He says the money goes back to the kids for their education or future projects.
