District Conservationist Named In Jackson

Jackson, CA — The U.S. Department of Agriculture´s Natural Resources Conservation Service has named a new District Conservationist in Jackson.

Amy Rocha will oversee NRCS activities in Amador, Calaveras, and Tuolumne Counties. Rocha worked in Stockton for 3 years as a soil conservationist before her move to Calaveras County.

She graduated from Fresno State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in biology and agriculture education.

Rocha says the NRCS offers financial assistance on a cost share basis to install conservation practices on private land.

Last year landowners in Amador, Calaveras, and Tuolumne Counties received more than $660,000 in funds.

She says the NRCS also provides farmers and ranchers with technical assistance when it comes to ponds, or other conservation issues.
