Calaveras Supervisors Meet With Farmers

The Calaveras County Board of Supervisors conducted a workshop on farm-related issues in San Andreas yesterday.

2nd District Supervisor Steve Wilensky says up to 100 Calaveras County farmers participated in the meeting to discuss banding together to get an AG-waiver from the state that could save farmers a lot of money on regulatory fees.

Wilensky says farmers teaming up into eight different groups can save thousands of dollars on water monitoring fees. Calaveras County´s top crops are timber, olives and grapes. Cattle grazing and ranching is also prevalent in the jumbo- sized county.
