Man Who Set 2003 Cedar Fire To Admit Guilt

SAN DIEGO (AP) __ The lost hunter accused of setting the largest wildfire in state history is expected to agree to a plea bargain today.

Federal prosecutors and a lawyer for Sergio Martinez say he will admit guilt in the October 2003 Cedar fire. Details of the plea were not released. The West Covina man is accused of setting the fire that charred 273,000 acres in San Diego County, killed 15 people and burned more than 2,000 homes. Martinez is scheduled to appear in court this morning. The plea bargain would have to be accepted by the judge. He would have faced ten years in prison if convicted of all the original charges against him.
