Authorities in Calaveras County are set to start up a new program educating drivers on the dangers of speeding.
According to state records, Calaveras County averaged 16 deaths a year in crashes between 2001 and 2003.
Only three other California counties had more people die on their roads than Calaveras County during that three-year stretch. Last year in Calaveras County, 20 people died.
