Driver In Fatal Accident Arrested For DUI

Groveland, CA — Police have identified the two women involved in the fatal car accident that happened in Groveland Tuesday.

58-year-old Phyllis Nordstrom of Angels Camp was killed when the car she was riding in as a passenger drove off of Second Garrotte road and hit a tree.

Authorities say the driver 47 year old Jami Edwards of Copperopolis was exceeding the speed limit on the narrow, muddy road when the accident happened.

Investigators say neither woman was wearing a seatbelt. Edwards was airlifted to Doctor´s Medical Center in Modesto, where she is in stable condition.

Edwards is under arrest for driving under the influence.
