Red Cross Fire Awareness Demonstration In Columbia

Columbia, CA — The Red Cross in conjunction with the Hwy 108 Fire Safe Council, the Forest Service and CDF are doing a Wild Fire Awareness Week demonstration on Saturday May 14th.

They will have volunteers demonstrating the correct clearing process to help people prevent their homes from being burned in a wild fire.

Red Cross Mother Lode District Manager Carole Mutzner said 4 homes in the Columbia State Park area will be used to educate residents about fire safety.

The demonstrations will start at 9:00am near the Columbia Fire Station on Jackson Street and then they will branch off to Parrotts Ferry Road.

Mutzner said that anyone interested in attending is welcome and the clearing will be going on until about 3:00pm.
