Angels Camp Officials To Hear Public Input On Affordable Housing Ordinance

Angels Camp, CA — The Angels Camp City Council will be taking public input on an ordinance designed to make it easier to develop affordable housing projects.

The ordinance would repeal a requirement for a conditional use permit for projects consisting of between three and six connected units on land zoned for multi-family residential development.

Those projects would only require a site permit rather than having to go before the city planning commission. Opponents of the measure say they are concerned that more affordable housing projects will drive property values down.

The city´s general plan calls for an additional 64 units to be built for very low-income families, 44 low-income units and 64 moderate-income homes by 2009.

The public hearing is scheduled for June 7th.
