Sierra Conservation Center May Lose a Few Prisoners

Jamestown, CA — A small group of inmates may soon be shipped out of the Sierra Conservation Center.

In order to deal with the state´s overcrowding prison system, many California prisoners will soon be sent to other states.

Sierra Conservation Center Spokesman Kenny Calhoun says 600 of the prisons 6100 prisoners indicated they would be interested in moving. After going through a list of initial qualifications, the number was cut down to 150. Of those, only 8 made the final cut.

They will still need to be medically cleared and will also need to be endorsed by a Classification Services Representative. Calhoun says the 8 could be shipped out within the next week or two.
