Rail Road Flat, CA — Local residents are celebrating a small victory after successfully getting a local bridge named after long time resident Jess E. Mechling.
More than 400 residents signed a petition to name the bridge after Mechling, a life long resident of Rail Road Flat.
The bridge is located on Railroad Road at the South Fork of the Mokelumne River.
The 84-year old was a logging truck driver and met his wife of 60 years Lavonna Eddy while he worked at the Rail Road Flat Store.
