HRC Calaveras Crisis Center Honors Violence Awareness Month

Calaveras, CA– In honor of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, The HRC Calaveras Crisis Center has planned two events that focus on eliminating violence in the community.

Beginning October 12th, photographs taken by victims of domestic violence will be displayed at the Calaveras County Arts Council Gallery in San Andreas. Officials say the participants were taught how to use household items and a disposable camera to take photographs of average things they now find beauty in.

The photos will be displayed through October 31st. Then beginning October 26th, the Crisis Center will host a workshop for employers at the fairgrounds in Angels Camp.

The workshop will be presented by the Blue Shield Against Violence Foundation, who will focus on strategies for employers dealing with employees who are in domestic violence situations.

There will be two sessions available; the first will begin at 9am through 12pm, the second session will begin at 3pm through 6pm. To sign up for the workshop or for any questions call 209-754-1300.
