San Andreas, CA — A man wanted for stealing more than $1 million in gold is in custody thanks to Calaveras County law enforcement officials.
The Calaveras County Sheriff´s Department says Peter Floyd Quammen moved to San Andreas several months ago.
Colorado authorities were after the 35-year-old for theft of gold from a commercial mining operation in Colorado Springs. Quammen had been fired from his job with the company in February.
Wednesday officials apprehended Quammen at a home on Scenic Court in San Andreas.
He is in the Calaveras County Jail awaiting extradition to Colorado.
