Sonora, CA– Mother Lode residents are to be commended for their efforts to buckle up.
The California Highway Patrol reported that 93 percent of drivers are wearing seatbelts when they drive. CHP officials say this is a record high for seat belt usage and that last years figure was 92 percent.
In the past year The CHP and local police departments have increased public awareness of the benefits of wearing a seat belt though out reach programs including “Click It or Ticket.” Officials say buckling up only takes a second and it is proven to save lives.
