C.H.P. Readies For Labor Day Weekend

Jamestown, CA — While many Mother Lode residents are set to vacation during the Labor Day weekend, the Highway Patrol will be out in full force in both Tuolumne and Calaveras Counties.

The C.H.P. labels it the third and final Maximum Enforcement Period of the warm weather months for 2006. To date, Tuolumne County has yet to register a holiday weekend fatality this year. For the entire year, 12 county residents have lost their lives.

Specific attention will be paid to speeders and those suspected of driving under the influence. And given the deaths of two motorcyclists in Tuolumne and Calaveras Counties this past weekend, Jamestown based C.H.P. Officer Tom Wills says the “black and whites” will be on the lookout for any type of two-wheeler erratic driving.

The final word from the C.H.P. … buckle up!
