Society Honors Town’s Founder

Wallace, CA — The Society for the Preservation of West Calaveras History is honoring the founder of the town of Wallace.

The society says 125 years after the town´s founding, it will be the first time that residents have honored John Wallace.

In 1882 Wallace surveyed the area´s railroad line. His son surveyed the town itself.

A ceremony will be held at 11 a.m., September 16 at the Wallace family plot at the Stockton Rural Cemetery.

Expected guests include direct descendants of John Wallace.
