Caltrans Hwy 120 Widening Project Continues

Stockton, CA — Caltrans is working on Hwy 120 for widening various areas along the New Priest Grade stretch.

Teichert Construction is working to widen the highway at eight locations that have been identified as constricted points for 45-foot long buses. This widening will allow these buses temporary access through Tuolumne County into Yosemite via Hwy 120. Access limitations were placed on Hwy 140 due to the April rockslide. Two temporary bridges have been built and were opened to the public Friday morning on Hwy 140.

Along with widening the road and re-stripping, the installation of a vehicle detection system will also be completed. Data will be gathered from that system for future use to evaluate the operations.

Caltrans crews are working 12 hour shifts, seven days a week, in hopes of completing the project prior to the Labor Day weekend.
