Sonora, CA– A man has been arrested on several charges after trying to forge a check at the Money Mart in Sonora.

James Derossett arrived at the Money Mart late Tuesday morning with a check made out in his name for over $900 dollars. The Tuolumne County Sheriff´s Department says when he tried to cash the check, an employee called the maker of the check, Concrete Inc., in Stockton, and discovered former employee Derossett no longer worked there.

They claimed the check was a forgery. After the employee told Derossett the check needed a further look, he fled the store. Derossett was found the next day at his mother´s house in Jamestown. He was arrested for felony forgery and burglary. Derossett was also wanted under several other charges from Calaveras County and was booked on all of his charges.
